Holiday Celebration at The Parks
Celebrate the holidays with friends and neighbors as a 20-foot tree and 12-foot menorah lit for Hanukkah brighten the new Arts Plaza and a choir sings holiday tunes. Warm up with hot beverages, fire pits, s’mores, and tasty treats for kids and grown-ups. Save the date for 2022:
Location: Arts Plaza at The Parks, 6810 Cameron Drive NW
Date: Saturday, December 3, 2022
Time: 5 pm to 6:30 pm
All are welcome. FREE. Many thanks to our partners, Housing Up and the Shepherd Park Citizens Association.
In 2021, we partnered with Housing Up on their Holiday Drive, which raised funds to purchase gifts for the nearly 1,500 children in their permanent supportive housing program. We’ll have a wrapping station so all you crafty folks out there can help wrap and label the new gifts!
Then, we held a brief program featuring:
- Naima Jefferson, President, Shepherd Park Citizens Association
- Rev. Terri McLellan, Senior pastor of Shepherd Park Christian Church
- Rabbi Michael Werbow, Rabbi at Tifereth Israel Congregation
- Mark Simpson, Urban Atlantic
How to Get There: The Arts Plaza is located across from The Brooks condos and adjacent to the new dog park. Map 6810 Cameron Drive NW. Parking is limited on the site, so walking or biking is recommended. Bike parking is available on racks and signage throughout the site. Some street parking is available inside The Parks gate, and street parking is also available along Georgia Avenue and Butternut Street NW.
The Parks at Walter Reed events are sponsored by Children’s National Hospital, Fidelity National Title: National Commercial Services, FRESHFARM Markets, Lime, Primrose Schools, Torti Gallas, and Streetsense.
