Explore New Murals at The Parks

Explore two new murals created by DC artists at The Parks at Walter Reed.
Succulents in the Entrway: The entryway makeover continues! Artist Chelsea Ritter-Soronen created a vibrant mural to welcome visitors to The Parks campus, a swirling, sweeping mass of teal and lavender succulents. “I often use succulents because they’re so representative of nature’s and human’s ability to grow through tough environments. Especially in 2020, I’ve been focusing a lot on that metaphor in my art.” Watch the video.
Movable Art at the Farmers Market: Artist Patrick Owens created a 12’x8′ mural on movable plywood panels to accompany the 2020 FRESHFARM Market. The green, leafy piece highlights the natural spaces at The Parks. The piece was taken down temporarily as the holiday tree and menorah went up, and as the playground is under construction. Watch the video about it, and keep your eyes open for when it’s re-installed in 2021.
