Home Rule Music Festival

June 20, 12-9pm Add to Calendar

2026 Home Rule Music Festival celebrates their 5th Anniversary, and we’re excited to share the first artists confirmed for this year’s festival at The Parks at Walter Reed on Saturday, June 20, 2026.

What began five years ago as a community-centered effort to celebrate and honor Black Fire Records and Washington, DC’s rich musical legacy has grown into one of the city’s most vibrant free cultural gatherings. We are incredibly grateful for the community that has helped build and sustain this work.

We are thrilled to announce the first artists in the 2026 Home Rule Music Festival lineup:

Sun Ra Arkestra featuring Marshall Allen
Chuck Brown Band
Trouble Funk
Melanie Charles
…and more artists will be announced soon.

The festival remains free and open to the public and will feature a full day of music, arts, and community programming including:

• Live performances spanning jazz, go-go, soul, hip-hop, and contemporary Black music
• A curated Music & Record Fair featuring local record shops and collectors
• Live visual art and mural painting
• Local food and merchandise vendors
• A family-friendly Kids Zone
• Our Youth Showcase, where student musicians open the festival on the main stage

As we celebrate five years of Home Rule Music Festival, we remain deeply committed to preserving DC’s musical heritage, creating paid opportunities for artists and creative workers, and building spaces where our community can gather through music, culture, and storytelling.

We hope you will join this special anniversary celebration.
