RSVP today for a new history tour about The Parks at Walter Reed! Working with DC History Center and local historians, our team interviewed neighborhood residents and created a thorough timeline of the site’s history, interspersed with delightful local stories (in 2021-2022). We’re now partnering with Washington Walks to turn this history into a walking tour of the site, launching this fall.
From its opening in 1909 to its closing in 2011, the world-class Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, DC, played an outsized role in the lives of thousands of people. When Walter Reed was merged with Bethesda Naval Medical Center in 2011, the Shepherd Park campus in Ward 4 began a new era in its storied history.
