The Parks Marketplace: Ribbon Cutting
July 20, 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM Add to Calendar
Join the development team at The Parks at Walter Reed for a community festival and ribbon-cutting event to celebrate the centerpiece of the north side of campus: with new retail, a community plaza, and three new residential buildings! This year, residents are already moving into new spaces at The Hartley, with luxury apartments now leasing; Common Clover, the largest co-living building in the District; and Kite House, brand-new condos expecting move-ins this summer. In addition, Whole Foods Market will open June 28, a precursor to a variety of creative retail opening soon. So far, leases have been signed with The Charmery ice cream shop, Nailsaloon, Mezeh Mediterranean, and Chase Bank. More are coming soon!
The Marketplace Plaza represents the next amazing public space at The Parks at Walter Reed, which already features a large dog park, creative playground, and of course the historic Great Lawn, a six-acre greenspace in the center of the campus. The Marketplace Plaza features historic trees along Georgia Avenue, a splash pad (that will transform into an ice skating rink in the winter), comfortable furniture, outdoor games, and welcoming passive recreation areas. The Parks at Walter Reed will continue to bring cultural programming to the space with a new Sunday afternoon DJ series later this year, and more activations and events on the way.
The ribbon-cutting event is part community festival, part retail showcase. The event will kick off with a set list by The Experience Band & Show, a funk, pop, r&b group led by a trombone and sure to get you moving. It’s happy hour time, so come for free beverage samples, food, branded giveaways, live artists, and more.
